RMP (Rogue / Mage / Priest)
RMP is the most iconic arena comp in WoW history and the highest skill-cap comp in TBC 3v3. When played at its ceiling, RMP controls the entire match through interlocking CC chains — Sap, Polymorph, Blind, Psychic Scream, Kidney Shot, and Counterspell give you more crowd control than any other comp. The Rogue and Mage create kill windows through perfectly synchronized burst while the Priest provides healing, Mana Burn pressure, and Mass Dispel. RMP requires exceptional coordination but rewards it with the ability to beat any comp in the game.
General Strategy
RMP wins through CC chains into burst. The Rogue Saps one target, the Mage Polymorphs another, and both DPS burst the third. During the kill window, the Priest Mana Burns the enemy healer or adds damage with SW:Pain and Smite. If the kill doesn't happen, reset and set up again.
Communication is everything. Every CC must be called and chained without overlap. The sequence is: Sap → Cheap Shot kill target → Polymorph healer → Kidney Shot kill target → Mage Shatter combo during KS → Blind healer as Poly breaks → Psychic Scream remaining targets. This chain controls all three enemies simultaneously for 15+ seconds.
The CC Chain
The perfect RMP CC chain: Rogue Saps target A. Mage Polymorphs target B. Rogue opens on target C (kill target) with Cheap Shot. During Cheap Shot, Mage pre-casts Frostbolt on kill target. Rogue Kidney Shots kill target. Mage Frost Novas + Shatter combo during KS. As Polymorph on target B breaks, Rogue Blinds target B. Priest Psychic Screams if anyone is close. This is 15-20 seconds of complete control.
Rogue Role
Sap to start CC chains. Cheap Shot + Kidney Shot on kill targets. Blind the healer for extended CC. Vanish to re-Sap and reset for another attempt. Kick and Gouge to interrupt enemy casts between kill attempts. You are the setup player — your CC enables the Mage's burst.
Mage Role
Polymorph for CC. Shatter combo for burst. Counterspell to lock out enemy healers during kill windows. Cold Snap for double Frost Nova or double Ice Block. You are the burst damage — when the Rogue sets up CC, you deliver the killing blow with Frostbolt + Ice Lance Shatter.
Priest Role
Heal the Rogue and Mage. Mana Burn enemy healers between kill attempts. Mass Dispel to strip buffs (Ice Block, Blessing of Protection, Divine Shield). Pain Suppression to save a teammate during enemy burst. Offensive dispel HoTs and shields off kill targets before Rogue goes.
Matchups
vs WLD (Warrior / Lock / Druid)
WLD is your hardest matchup. Sustained pressure is hard to CC chain through. Open on the Warlock — Sap Warrior, Poly Druid, burst Lock. Soul Link makes burst harder. Must kill during CC chains. Mana Burn the Druid between goes.
- Open on the Warlock
- Sap Warrior, Poly Druid
- Soul Link reduces burst — need perfect CC
- Mana Burn Druid between goes
- Reset with Vanish if go fails
vs Warrior / Druid / Priest
Train the Priest. Sap the Warrior, Poly the Druid. Burst the Priest during CC. Mana Burn the Druid. Priest is squishy and your CC chains overwhelm their double healer setup.
- Train the Priest
- Sap Warrior, Poly Druid
- Mana Burn the Druid
- Priest is squishy under burst
- CC chains overwhelm double healer
vs RLS (Rogue / Lock / Shaman)
Open on the Shaman. Sap the Warlock, Poly the Rogue. Burst the Shaman — squishy healer. Watch for enemy Rogue opener on your Priest. Counterspell Shaman heals during kill window.
- Open on the Shaman
- Sap Warlock, Poly Rogue
- Shaman is squishy
- Watch for enemy Rogue on Priest
- CS Shaman heals during kill window
vs Warlock / Shaman / Warrior
Open on the Shaman. CC the Warrior and Warlock. Shaman is the weakest link. Poly the Warlock, Sap the Warrior. Shatter combo the Shaman during Kidney Shot.
- Open on Shaman
- Poly Warlock, Sap Warrior
- Shaman is weakest link
- Shatter combo during KS
- Reset if Shaman survives
vs PHD (Paladin / Hunter / Druid)
Open on the Hunter. Sap Paladin, Poly Druid. Hunter is squishy and their only DPS. Without Hunter damage, PHD has zero kill pressure. Mass Dispel Bubble if Paladin uses it.
- Open on the Hunter
- Sap Paladin, Poly Druid
- Hunter is their only damage
- Mass Dispel Bubble
- PHD has no kill pressure without Hunter
vs Mage / Lock / Priest
Mirror-style Priest. Open on the enemy Priest. Sap Lock, Poly Mage. Burst the Priest. CS the enemy Priest heals. Mana Burn between goes.
- Open on enemy Priest
- Sap Lock, Poly Mage
- CS enemy Priest heals
- Mana Burn between goes
- Your CC chain is deeper
vs Shadow Priest / Rogue / Mage
Mirror variant. Whoever opens first wins. Track enemy Rogue. Open on their Shadow Priest — weakest healer. Mass Dispel Vampiric Embrace. Pain Suppression your kill target.
- Whoever opens first wins
- Track enemy Rogue
- Open on Shadow Priest
- Mass Dispel Vampiric Embrace
- Pain Suppression defensively
vs Warrior / Paladin / Druid
Passive comp — easy to CC. Sap Warrior, Poly one healer, burst the other healer. Paladin has Bubble but Mass Dispel removes it. Mana Burn whichever healer you're not killing. They lack kill pressure.
- Sap Warrior, CC one healer, kill other
- Mass Dispel Bubble
- Mana Burn between goes
- They lack kill pressure
- Patient CC chains win
vs Hunter / Shaman / Warrior
Open on the Shaman. Sap Warrior, Poly Hunter. Shaman dies fast to Shatter combo + Rogue burst. Flare is annoying — approach from odd angles. After Shaman dies, game is over.
- Open on Shaman
- Sap Warrior, Poly Hunter
- Shaman dies fast
- Watch for Flare
- After Shaman dies, cleanup
